Making food label review a more accessible working step
Product development, quality, design and production teams may all contribute to the same label. An ingredient line can remain unchanged after a recipe revision; a new pack size may need a different net quantity; one language version may omit an expression found in another. A repeatable preliminary review helps bring these details to the team’s attention before a print decision.

Reading the label, establishing scope and evaluating evidence
The process starts with the source file. Text and images within a PDF are assessed, and OCR is used to read writing in an image. A field’s position, unit and relationship to surrounding lines matter as well as its apparent value. For example, the 100 g basis in a nutrition table is different from the net quantity of the package. A number needs to be associated with the correct field and unit.
Active, approved rules are then evaluated using the information that can be read about the product. Whether a rule applies is a separate question from whether its condition is met. Confirmed out-of-scope checks do not add unnecessary rows to the report; uncertainty about scope or evidence is explained. From ingredients to nutrition information: the areas we review
The checking areas include product identity, ingredient declarations, allergen wording, net quantity and units, origin, operator information, storage conditions and nutrients. Reading a field and verifying every aspect of its declaration are different tasks. When typography, the meaning of a picture or information from another document is needed, the additional evidence requirement should remain visible.
The product category also shapes the review. Dairy products, chocolate and fruit juice may require different declarations and technical questions. A general checklist should therefore not be treated as a complete assessment of every requirement for a particular product. Manufacturers and brand owners can use the application when reviewing a new packaging design or a revision of an existing label. Food engineers and quality teams can gather readable declarations into a preliminary review report. Designers and agencies can connect technical feedback to the relevant part of the artwork, making it easier to track the next revision.
Teams working on imports and exports may also benefit from seeing information in two languages together. Turning a report into a practical revision plan
A useful report helps you decide what to do next. Open a failed check or an item requiring review, compare the detected evidence with the expected condition, and inspect that area of the original artwork. Revise the design if information is genuinely missing. If the information is present but unreadable, use a clearer source file. Bring in the recipe, specification or other relevant documents when the question requires them.
After a revision, analysing the new version helps you review the changed information and its relationship to the rest of the label. Building trust by showing the basis of each finding
Traceable assessment is central to our approach: what was read, which condition was evaluated and what still needs verification? A successful check on one field is not presented as approval of the entire package. Equally, a field that cannot be read is not automatically treated as absent. The explanation is an essential part of the result.
An uncertain finding should help you understand how to clarify the issue. It may require a better image, a closer look at typography, confirmation of a unit or column relationship, or examination of a product document. The application provides preliminary checks; its report is not official approval or a certificate of compliance with all food legislation.
Label files, analysis records and access
Label artwork can be part of your product development work. Uploads, results and access information are therefore handled separately from public informational pages. Private label contents are not included in search-indexable pages or sitemap entries. Keep your analysis access information safe and download reports that you need to retain.
The data and privacy page explains access to source files, retention periods, feedback and requested report emails. Review every page before uploading a document, and leave out personal or commercial records that are unnecessary for the label assessment.
